Terms & Liability

Last updated: May 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By submitting a garment or accessory to Campus Chalet Embroidery ("Campus Chalet," "we," "us," or "our") for monogramming or any related embroidery service — whether delivered in person, by mail, or by courier — you ("Client") acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Liability in full.

2. Inherent Risks of Embroidery

Embroidery involves the use of needles, threads, stabilizers, hoops, heat, and adhesives applied directly to fabric. Even when performed by skilled hands using best-practice techniques, these processes carry inherent and unavoidable risks, including but not limited to: needle holes, hoop marks, thread tension distortion, puckering, color migration, dye bleed, shrinkage, fabric weakening, and damage to delicate weaves, linings, prints, sequins, beading, leather, suede, knits, silks, vintage materials, or any previously repaired or compromised areas.

3. Assumption of Risk & Limitation of Liability

The Client expressly assumes all risk associated with submitting any garment or item for service. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Campus Chalet, its owners, employees, and contractors shall not be liable for any damage to, loss of, defect in, depreciation of, or destruction of any garment, accessory, or item — including but not limited to designer, vintage, irreplaceable, or sentimentally valued items — arising from embroidery, handling, cleaning, pressing, shipping, storage, or any other service performed.

In no event shall Campus Chalet's total liability for any claim — whether in contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise — exceed the amount actually paid by the Client for the specific service giving rise to the claim. Campus Chalet shall not be liable for the replacement value, retail value, or sentimental value of any item, nor for any incidental, consequential, indirect, special, or punitive damages.

4. Client Responsibilities

  • The Client warrants they are the rightful owner of each item submitted, or have full authority from the owner to authorize service.
  • The Client is responsible for disclosing any prior repairs, fabric sensitivities, allergies, or known defects in writing at the time of order.
  • Approval of design, placement, thread color, font, and size is the sole responsibility of the Client. Once stitching has begun, changes are not possible.
  • The Client is responsible for verifying the spelling and arrangement of all initials before approval. Campus Chalet is not responsible for misspellings or initial errors approved by the Client.

5. Shipping & Drop-Off

Items shipped to Campus Chalet are sent at the Client's sole risk and expense. We strongly recommend insured, trackable shipping. Campus Chalet is not responsible for items lost, delayed, damaged, or stolen in transit to or from our atelier. Items left for drop-off must be claimed within ninety (90) days of completion or notification, after which they may be considered abandoned.

6. Color Matching & Variation

Thread colors are selected in good faith to complement the garment, but exact matches cannot be guaranteed due to differences in fiber, lighting, dye lot, and screen calibration. Slight variations in stitch density, monogram placement (within standard tolerances), and finished appearance are normal characteristics of hand-finished embroidery and are not considered defects.

7. Right to Refuse Service

Campus Chalet reserves the right to decline service on any item we believe, in our sole judgment, is too delicate, damaged, or otherwise unsuitable for embroidery. Items declined will be returned to the Client at the Client's expense.

8. Indemnification

The Client agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Campus Chalet and its representatives from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses arising out of or relating to the items submitted, the Client's use of our services, or any breach of these Terms.

9. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Tennessee, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising hereunder shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Washington County, Tennessee.

10. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
